Ev Bravado
Also known as Murder Bravado, real name Everand Best, designer behind WHO DECIDES WAR known for his extraordinary DIY-inspired denim
Everand Best grew up around his father’s tailor shop in Long Island, where he learned an appreciation of DIY techniques in fashion. He started customizing jeans and t-shirts there in high school, going on to start his first brand, Lease on Life Society, straight out of high school in 2012. Best has talked openly about how he felt that he did not focus as much on his first label as he would have liked, stating in an interview with Highsnobiety: “I was so focused on being this socialite and being out all the time that I didn’t focus in on designing.” After getting sober in 2016, he started his new label, Ev Bravado, that has since found extraordinary success.
Best uses religious themes to express positivity in his designs. He is most known for his meticulously hand-made jeans that straddle the line between a hip-hop and a punk aesthetic. These jeans incorporate a wild mix of patchwork detailing, rhinestones, graphics, and patches. He has collaborated with Heron Preston, Joey Bada$$, and Virgil Abloh, with Abloh selecting him for a panel titled “The Next Generation of Design.” Best collaborated with Abloh on three pairs of denim for Off-White’s Spring-Summer 2019 collection, and the two have since collaborated on numerous pairs.
